Outreach

Did you know our learning team can come to your school? We can run classroom sessions which include an interactive presentation, handling objects to investigate and a craft activity. If you are in Bath and North East Somerset then travel costs are included. If you are further away please contact us. Adapted versions of the workshops can also be ‘added on’ when booking our mobile planetarium sessions.

Meet the Herschels – KS1 Outreach Workshop

Learn about William and Caroline Herschel’s lives and amazing discoveries through handling objects and interactive learning.

Workshops can be adapted for different age groups and learning objectives. These workshops can be booked alongside planetarium sessions.

Curriculum Links:

  • English: Spoken Language skills
  • History: Learning about significant people and places
    in the locality; Developing an awareness of the past

Amazing Astronomy – KS2 Outreach Workshop

Learn about William and Caroline Herschel’s remarkable discoveries demonstrations and practical activities. Pupils will expand their knowledge of the solar system, learn about the importance of the Herschels’ work and take part in a hands-on activity exploring the scale of the solar system.

The workshop supports the History and Science programmes of study.

  • History: a local history study
  • Science: describe the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system
